100 years Südzucker Group – Part of Your Life
100 years ago, five southern German sugar factory companies merged and formed the “Süddeutsche Zucker-Aktiengesellschaft”. At that time, no one could have predicted that this would develop into the company you know today as the Südzucker Group- of which the Sugar Division is an integral part. In our anniversary year, we reaffirm what matters most to our industrial partners: reliable supply, consistent quality, future-ready and beet-based sweetening solutions.
Today, the Südzucker Sugar Division has developed into a leading European sugar supplier with beet sugar production in Germany, France, Belgium, Poland, and Moldova and sales offices across Europe. Alongside well known consumer brands (Südzucker, Saint Louis Sucre, Tiense Suiker, Cukier Królewski, Candico), the Südzucker Sugar Division provides an extensive industrial solutions portfolio for bakery, confectionery, beverages, dairy, pharma and foodservice applications. For our customers, that means:
- Reliable supply across Europe: thanks to multiple production sites and sales offices
- Consistent specifications and quality (e.g., particle size, colour, moisture) guaranteed by QA systems for food safety, traceability, and process stability (e.g., IFFS, ISO)
- Technical support for process optimization and product development
Anniversary Packaging for Category Activation
Celebrating our 100 years heritage, we, the Südzucker Sugar Division are making our story visible at shelf with a limited edition of our Südzucker 1 kg Feiner Rüben Zucker (Fine Beet Sugar) in a limited anniversary design -a strong category activation in southern Germany.

We launched similar initiatives with our consumer brands in other countries as well — for example, for the 160th anniversary of our Saint Louis Sucre brand in 2025.
This initiatives reflect the same values we share with our B2B partners: heritage, trust, quality and innovation.
Sugar & Beyond – Südzucker Sugar Division Delivers More Than Sugar
Did you know that Südzucker’s integrated beet processing creates value far beyond sweetening? At our Strzelin site in Poland, we turn beet pulp into green gas—transforming a sugar production co‑product into renewable energy and supporting both decarbonization and circularity. We also produce co‑products like beet pellets for animal nutrition, enabling nearly full utilization of the crop. And with BeetKraft®, our innovative fiber material made from a sugar beet by-product, we’re expanding into the world of paper solutions and packaging.
Looking Ahead: Sweet, Smart, and Future-oriented
We are using our anniversary as an opportunity to look ahead to the future, with a clear focus on innovation that delivers measurable impact — because sustainability and performance go hand in hand:
- CO₂ reduction projects in operations and logistics
- Sugar with a reduced CO₂ footprint to support our customers’ climate targets
- New ingredients & materials (e.g., BeetKraft®) to unlock new market opportunities
- Process and application support from our technical teams to accelerate your product development
This commitment is backed by our strong presence across Europe and our hands-on collaboration. Headquartered in Mannheim since 1926, we combine the reach of a European leader with the responsiveness of local teams. From specification matching and particle size optimization to pilot trials and industrial scale-up, we support your R&D and operations every step of the way—helping you turn your goals into practical solutions.
