Icing sugar & decorative powder Raftisnow®
We offer a wide range of icing sugars for baked goods and confectionery, sweets and the pharmaceutical industry.
Our icing sugar has many uses: as a garnish, for mixing glazes or as icing, for dusting baked goods, for making sugar confectionery, as a coating in the confectionery industry and as a carrier in pharmaceutical applications.
We also offer our Raftisnow® decorative powder for special applications. Our decorative powder is temperature and moisture stable, making it ideal for applications where stability is particularly important: for dusting chilled, frozen or warm products, for dusting fatty baked goods and for packaged baked goods.
Our icing sugar portfolio differs in terms of fineness, flowability and stability:
- Pure icing sugar in various particle sizes (standard or fine)
- Icing sugar with flow aid (potato or corn starch)
- Raftisnow® decorative powder with higher performance in terms of moisture and temperature stability.
Icing Sugar
Südzucker icing sugar is made from ground sugar beet. This produces fine icing sugar in powder form. It is available in various particle sizes, standard (min. 80%<0.100mm) or fine (min. 70%<0.032mm). It is carefully conditioned to ensure it remains free-flowing and clumping is minimised.
Our icing sugars are particularly free-flowing. We can offer icing sugar with potato or corn starch, used as a free-flowing agent.
Icing Sugar Product | Crystal size for % weight in sugar | Anticaking agents |
Pure Icing Sugar | Min. 70 % < 0.032 mm | No |
Icing Sugar with Starch | Min. 80 % < 0.100 mm | Starch derived from potatoes or corn |
Application benefits of icing sugar
- Thanks to its fine grain size, icing sugar dissolves quickly and can be distributed evenly in mixtures
- Thanks to special conditioning and optional anti-caking agents, our icing sugars remain free-flowing and easy to handle for optimal processing.
- With its particularly white colour and fine texture, our icing sugar gives icings an even, brilliant white colour
- Südzucker icing sugars are made from beet sugar and are also available in EU organic quality (DE-ÖKO-003).

Our ‘Ph’ sugar for pharmaceutical use is subject to strict quality control during production in accordance with sugar-specific methods that are validated globally by the ICUMSA (International Commission for Uniform Methods of Sugar Analysis).

Icing sugar for your application
Our icing sugar is perfectly suited for a wide range of applications. It provides baked goods with a fine, even coating and serves as the ideal base for icings, glazes, and fillings. In confectionery production, it can also be used as a coating for pralines and dragées. It contributes to the softness and crispness of the macaron’s shell, helps form its base and is essential for the creamy texture of the meringue. Additionally, our icing sugar serves as a carrier substance in pharmaceutical products.
With our high-quality solutions, you can ensure optimal processing and premium quality.
On request, we customize our icing sugar to meet your specific requirements—whether through different fineness levels, tailored blends, or functional additives such as anti-caking agents. With our high-quality solutions, you can ensure optimal processing and premium quality.
