Fostering Biodiversity
As a leading manufacturer of food ingredients, Südzucker places a high priority on environmental protection, bridging the gap between farm and fork. Our environmental efforts are centered on sustainable farming, promoting biodiversity, reducing CO2-equivalent emissions, and encouraging conscious consumption.
To boost biodiversity, we have collaborated with the Institute for Agroecology and Biodiversity (IFAB) over the past five years. This joint research aims to understand the effects of flower strips in and around sugar beet fields on beneficial insects, pests, pollinators, birds, and other animals. The goal is to develop management strategies for implementing biodiversity-enhancing measures at the farm level.
